The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has named the 2017 Lincoln MKZ and 2017 Lincoln MKX top safety picks in their respective categories. The Lincoln MKZ is Midsize Luxury Car winner (with optional front crash protection), while the Lincoln MKX is a Midsize Luxury SUV winner (when equipped with optional front crash protection).
Both vehicles are available with a suite of intuitive driver-assist technologies, including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, a lane keeping system and an auto-hold feature that keeps the vehicle at a complete stop. They both also come equipped with Blind Spot Information system (BLIS®) with cross-traffic alert. This feature uses radar sensors to detect to the presence of a vehicle in the driver's blind spots, and alerts the driver with lights in the side view mirrors.
To earn an IIHS 2017 Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must earn "good" ratings in five crashworthiness tests and an "advanced" or "superior" rating for front crash prevention.
